// 15th Apr '10, the Usenet indexer, returns from the dead after five month outage

Back last year in late November, a leading NZB site, was taken offline during a Ukrainian police raid on their data centre hosted in Dnipropetrovsk. The raid did not target Newzleech itself but rather another company who also had equipment at the data centre; however, Newzleech's machine got taken in the hunt for evidence along with the scripts which were used to run the site. Unfortunately the scripts were not backed up off-server and therefore the site had to go through a partial rebuild - something which K, the site admin, said would be complete before the year (2009) was out.

And so this brings us to earlier this week when the rebuilt version of Newzleech relaunched. 4 months later than expected but well worth the wait, Newzleech was always a great contender in the NZB scene and will go far with this new site. With a massive 600 days retention, Newzleech offers a really decent raw header search (surpassing that of even Newzbin) but please note the post feature is not back yet, the page currently says "disabled (temp)". Whether this is due to the fact that section hasn't been rebuilt yet or the fact that recently lost their court case based upon grouping of Usenet headers into "Posts" is something we're not sure on. To be honest, Newzleech does a fantastic job of automatically grouping posts in the raw search anyway.

Other features yet to return are the forum and access via HTTPS.

I am glad it is back, good search engine. I wish the site owner would do what binsearch does and add https too though.

Newzleech is gone for good. Do you know the reason?
